Joe McLaughlin is a trained actor, currently based
in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Joe has over 15 years of acting experience and
has performed in a wide variety of shows. These range from musicals and pantomimes
to classical texts and devised work. He has academically studied the approaches
of major drama practitioners such as Constantin Stanislavski, Bertolt Brecht, Augusto
Boal and Keith Johnstone.
In addition to acting, Joe also performs improvisation comedy, either as part of “Kayvan’s Comedy Volcano” or competitively at "The Rat Race Improv Show”. These evenings are always enormous fun and new dates are announced on this website.
Joe is also a professional scriptwriter. His play
“Mind Games” was produced by Cloud Nine Theatre Company, and performed at the
Customs House, South Shields as part of the “Unreal Trilogy”.
“Focusing on themes of friendship, jealousy,
tragedy and retribution, McLaughlin's script is magnificent.”
